Good Works

Sander’s roots are important to him. His commitment to paying forward and his dedication to good works are tributes to the many mentors who helped him on his own path. The following programs are very close to Sander’s heart:

AIS

An organization dedicated to helping stutterers, The American Institution for Stuttering is a leading non-profit providing assistance to people of all ages suffering from speech impediments. Sander is a long-standing member of the Board and its former Chair. In 2013, he and actor Samuel L. Jackson were honored by AIS for rising above their dis-fluency to hone influential careers that have left deep and important contributions to their respective fields.

Edge4Vets

As an army veteran, Sander understands the culture shock that many soldiers face after returning from war and military service. For so many the road back to employment is not easy. To assist veterans with re-entry into the work force, Sander serves as a mentor with Edge4Vets, an organization helping vets integrate back into civilian lifestyle. The focus is on identifying strengths that were developed in the military and finding ways to apply those skills towards success back at home. Sander is also giving time to forwarding a branch of the organization called Edge4WomenVets, supporting female members of the armed services.

Established by the New York City Economic Development Corporation in conjunction with Fordham University, Sander is a mentor for the NYC Venture Fellows, a highly selective year-long fellowship program designed to help the next generation of global entrepreneurs “make it” in New York City. The program provides Fellows with executive-level counsel and advice, exclusive networking opportunities, and the resources to help them scale their businesses for success.

Rose Flaum Foundation

As a child, Sander suffered with a pronounced stuttering handicap. Refusing to let him hide behind it, his mother, Rose, instilled in him the mantra “work harder and smarter.” Sander’s remarkable career is proof that his obstacle did not limit his success. The Rose Flaum Foundation is a tribute to his mother, offering support to stuttering therapy programs and to stutterers who cannot afford therapy.
